Open Trade Training Centre Presents Try a Trade Program


OTTC in Partnership with The Copper Development Association Africa (CDAA)has sponsored 9 young
learners to take part in the TRY A TRADE (TAT) program. The TAT Program provides young school
leavers with the opportunity simply to TRY a TRADE and learn more about the Refrigeration and Airconditioning industry.

The aim of the project is to increase awareness about the Refrigeration and Air-conditioning industry while equipping the candidates with the neccesry skills that will make them premium candidates for employment and development. Finding talent and commitment can be a timeconsuming activity for any company. During the TAT program, OTTC assessed candidate’s skill levels, eagerness to learn and work. With the assessment results, candidates can be reviewed and are highly recommended for employment by OTTC.

During the 2 weeks initial training the 9 candidates that were preselected, took part in various training sessions. Isolde Döbelin introduced the candidates to refrigeration and Airconditioning, as well as broaden their horizons by discussing the endless career opportunities available in the industry. One of OTTC’s first students Martin Mc. Eneaney Nel, who is now head lecturer at OTTC also spoke to the candidates and shared some of his past experiences while working in Refrigeration and Air-conditioning
