By swiftly seizing the prized title, Motlekar Holdings has asserted itself as a player of note in the transformed business landscape of South Africa.

In turn, the association with the 100% black-owned and controlled investment group is sure to provide the BBQ Awards with an injection of fresh energy and direction.

"The opportunity to sponsor the BBQ Awards came at a good time," says chairperson Faizal Motlekar. "Transformation in South Africa has reached a point whereby transformed companies such as Motlekar are able to produce the goods, providing world-class services that are integrated with the aspirations of the communities they serve. That is what broad-based black economic empowerment (BBBEE) is about: not just glamour, black diamonds and bling but smart, hard work in the right places, yielding consistent, socially responsible returns. Consequently, the 2013 Motlekar BBQ Awards will be a showcase for the best in BBBEE."

Echoing Motlekar's sentiments, David Mwanambuyu, BBQ editor, said: "It's incredibly exciting to be partnering with an outfit of the calibre of Motlekar Holdings. With partners like Group Five, Acutts and Global Petroleum, to name but a few, its record of accomplishment speaks for itself. As such, it is a great honour that Motlekar Holdings has recognised the value of the BBQ Awards."

The 2013 Motlekar BBQ Awards will be hosted by Cape Media Corporation, on 25 October at Emperors Palace.
