Growing South African logistics road transport company, Concargo Global Logistics and Concargo Distribution, recently named Nathi Chonco as a shareholder partner.

Chonco will manage the growth of the business with Concargo founder and managing director, David Kruyer.

As a supply chain and logistics industry veteran, Chonco brings financial and transport industry expertise to his role as a director of Concargo Group.

This will help Concargo through its high growth period and help expand its role in the industry.

"Nathi has outstanding credentials and is a great fit for this important position.

"As a medium size company, we recognised that we needed someone like Nathi to grow our corporate and offshore business.

"His corporate, financial and leadership experience as well as his expertise in the transport and financial industries will serve us well," says Kruyer.

"I am thrilled to be joining up with the Concargo team.

"I am committed to their mission of providing solutions and quality added-value services," says Chonco.

"The Concargo model works. I look forward to leading the company through this exciting growth period and into the future."

Chonco is also a director of Vunani Fund Managers and non-executive director of Total Client Services and chairperson of its social and ethics committee.

He also served as group executive: group empowerment and development and was a member of the group executive committee at Metropolitan.

He led the team who formulated the empowerment strategy and initiative that resulted in Metropolitan Group partnering with Kagiso Trust Investments as black economic empowerment partner.

Under his leadership, Metropolitan Group was recognised as a leading black empowered financial services group by the Black Management Forum, Financial Mail and Business Map.

Previously, Chonco served as an executive director of human resources at Maskew Miller Longman and sales adviser (Neighbouring States) for BP South Africa.

He holds a BA degree and MPhil degree in Business Ethics.

Concargo was founded in 1987 by Cape Town businessman David Kruyer.

His vision of creating strategic business partnerships and alliances in the supply chain and logistics industry, in order to provide cutting-edge solutions for vertical industries, continues to define the company.

Over the past 26 years, Concargo has established itself as a recognised brand and a vital link in the supply chain in southern Africa.

Concargo’s extensive network and service offerings include abnormal load haulage, national and over-border Africa road haulage, supply of mobile cranes, warehousing solutions and mission-critical logistics, to name but a few.
