South African-based multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy, GIBB clinched the Job Shadow Day Award for the fourth time at the prestigious annual CESA Aon Engineering Excellence Awards 2012 held on August 15 2012 at the Vodadome in Midrand.

With the growing skills shortages and a need for engineering capacity in South Africa, GIBB annually participates in the Consulting Engineers South Africa (CESA) Job Shadow Day initiative in an effort to inspire, motivate and educate learners to follow a potential career in consulting engineering.

The company’s Cape Town, East London, Port Elizabeth, Durban and Gauteng offices participated this year, with a total of over 100 learners in attendance.“Job Shadow Day introduces high school learners to engineering as a tangible career path,” said Yolande van Rooyen, Marketing Practitioner at GIBB.

“The country needs well-qualified people to build and strengthen the economy in an increasingly competitive global marketplace and bolstering our pipeline of skilled engineers is just one of the ways in which we can help with economic growth,” she added.
