This issue of BBQ is filled with news and features that are fresh, different and relevant. Our cover story features the champion of black business, National Empowerment Fund CEO, Philisiwe Buthelezi. We chat to her about her passion and drive to better the fate of black businesses.
We have introduced a new feature: Young Black Business, which looks into three businesses that are owned by young black entrepreneurs who are making waves in their industry of choice.
Furthermore, we now have an SMME section, in which we will look at issues faced by smaller businesses and provide valuable advice.
Another source of pride for me is the partnership between BBQ and Absa Wealth. This association is indicative of the publication’s strength, dominance and presence in the market. Having phenomenal brands such as Absa Wealth investing in BBQ is a step in the right direction for the publication and its plan to align itself with the country’s most powerful businesses and brands.
I am very excited about Absa Wealth’s participation, which kicked off in our first quarter with a highly informative piece on wealth management. In this issue, it discusses how the economic downturn has changed attitudes toward wealth and wealth management.
And lastly, I sadly announce that this is my last issue as editor of BBQ. The past three and a half years have been an experience to treasure for the rest of my career. I would like to thank everyone for their phenomenal support. At the helm of BBQ, I have had the privilege to meet – and form life-changing relationships with – the country’s greatest political and business minds. I now eagerly anticipate the next great phase in life.
Until we cross paths again.
